Josh Hubbard offers affordable one-on-one fitness training at his Southbury business, The Fitness Junction.

“Our average price is $23 per session for personal training; our lowest price is $17. Almost anyone can afford our services,” said the 29-year old Hubbard, certified through the International Sports Sciences Association as a personal trainer and weight loss coach.

For Hubbard, who ran a physical training program when he was a soldier in the U.S. Army, followed by a four-year personal training stint on the civilian side, it’s all about efficiency and discipline. His studio features commercial-grade strength training and cardio equipment plus free weights.

He trains up to four people at a time, each with an individualized workout plan he develops and monitors. “By multi-tasking, I’m able to train each person on their own program. I don’t need to stand over each person. Most people can count reps,” explained Hubbard, who lives in Waterbury.

His clients range in age from 14 to 71. He builds efficiency into their workouts with a focus on strength training.

“Studies have shown strength training is the best way to increase muscle mass to achieve goals — including weight loss — in the most efficient fashion,” he said.

Recalling his days as a personal trainer in the big gym arena, Hubbard noted the benefits of The Fitness Junction’s smaller workout environment. “There’s no fighting for equipment here. You’re not bumping into people. You’re not judged; it’s not competitive. People are just here to work out. It’s fun.”

Danbury Police Officer Ashley Wooden trained with Hubbard to prepare for her second Complete Health and Injury Prevention (C.H.I.P.) Physical Ability Assessment at the Police Academy.

“After working out with Josh, my results were the best they’d been,” she said, noting she had increased her performance from her first C.H.I.P. assessment.

In addition to strength training, weight loss programs and preparation for military and law enforcement fitness tests, The Fitness Junction offers sports conditioning, flexibility, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
