Boxing Female champ signs with HG Boxing

WBO bantamweight champion Kaliesha “Wild Wild” West (13-1-3, 4 KOs) has signed with Hector Garcia of HG Boxing.  She will make her debut with HG Boxing on August 20th in the semi-main event which is headlined by former WBA super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado battling mandatory challenger Argenis Mendez for the vacant IBF super featherweight title.

At fourteen, West was crowned National Golden Gloves champion.  She amassed a 98-10 amateur record and turned pro at 18 defeating former British Olympian Suszanah Warner with a unanimous decision over four rounds (February 2006).

After ten consecutive wins, West fought for the IFBA North American bantamweight title in November 2008.  Her opponent, Ava Knight, won a close but unanimous decision, giving West her first professional loss.  On September 18, 2010  -  on the undercard of Sergio Mora versus Shane Mosley  -  West captured the vacant WBO title by knocking out Ana Gladney in the seventh round.  In her first title defense on June 18, 20011, West had her rematch with Knight.  After ten round toe-to-toe war, West retained her WBO strap after battling to a draw.
