I’ve owned and used a Schwinn Airdyne upright exercise bike for twenty plus years. And I purchased it used. It sits right here besides my computer table ready to go at a moment’s notice. All these years, I’ve remunerated no gym fees or had to drive anyplace to exercise. It’s been totally dependable and here’s why I like it still. 1. The dual action. See, you’re working both your upper body and your lower body too. The real trick to long-term weight control is to keep your rate of metaboli process up. The way to do that is to keep your muscles built up. Using a machine like this is a great way to maintain muscle with no risk of that weight lifter look. Pump and pedal to more fat burned, even if you’re just sitting around. 2. Fan resistance. All you do to get more resistance and load is pump and pedal faster. Of course you’re stirring up near gale strength winds as you in truth get with it. It’s in truth sort of fun stirring up all that air. It’s a outstanding way to keep cool on hot days too. 3. Stable ride. I’ve ridden a lot of other bikes, including both uprights and recumbents that were rather expensive. Most of those like to rock and sway underneath load. Not too bad, but galore moving all the same. The Air dyne on the other hand is rock solid. It’s a simple heavy steel frame and it just sits there as you work away. It’s a stable platform often times used in health clubs and gyms. It has that professional instrumentation feel. 4. No electronics. What??? Electronic drives may be silent and programmable, but who needs it? Well, the electronics may be a real plus for fighting boredom. That’s unfeigned since you get the simulated workouts to mix things up. Here’s the problem… All that electronics is subject to fail and then you’re looking at huge fix bills or a dead bike. It’s good as long as it lasts, but I like the Airdyne simple design with none of the electrical gizmos. 5. No maintenance. That’s what I’ve had after twenty years. My machine has a few battle scars and it could use one new pedal. But that’s with regards to it except for a few batteries for the electronic timer. It’s a simple, rugged machine that just does what it’s designed to do. My Schwinn Air-Dyne exercise bike proceeds to work utterly after all these years of hard use. Schwinn doesn’t get much repeat business on this model. One’s in all probability all you’ll ever need. The one I have in all probability is going to outlast me… |
