Q&A – Fitness Monitors

What is the Bioelectrical Impedance Method?
Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) is considered one of the most precise and accessible methods of screening body fat. Muscles, blood vessels and bones are body tissues having a high water content that conduct electricity easily. Body fat is tissue that has little electric conductivity. The monitor sends an exceedingly weak electrical current through your body to determine the amount of fat tissue. The weak electrical current is not felt while operating the Body Fat Analyzer. The monitor is calculated by a formula that includes five factors; electric resistance, height, weight, age and gender.
What is visceral fat?
Visceral fat is located around the organs. Too much visceral fat is thought to be almost linked to increased level of fat in the bloodstream, which may lead to mutual conditions such as high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Sedentary life style causes excess visceral fat, and exercise may reduce it more quickly than subcutaneous fat (fat located under skin).
What is resting metabolism?
Resting metamorphosis is the energy to maintain critical functions and it counts 60 to 70% of total energy consumption. Knowing your resting metamorphosis may support your dietplan. If you may increase daily action while keeping feed intake at resting metaboli process level, you may lose weight.
What is skeletal muscle?
Skeletal muscle is muscle attached to the bones that is employed to move the body. If you do weight loss without exercise, you may lose skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is primary to maintain your resting metaboli process as well as your functionality. Monitoring skeletal muscle for the duration of weight loss is key to stay clear from weight rebound in the future.

5Does precisely what I need it to do!
By Favorite Children’s Books
Being a person who hasn’t ever joined a gym, I never knew stuff like this existed. I was very mesmerized in this item because I’ve been walking for exercise but wasn’t genuinely sure I was reaching my target heart rate consistently.

The monitor, which displays the time as well as your heart rate on a watch, works in conjuction with a gizmo that you strap around yourself, just under your chest. (I will tell you, since I was concerned in regards to this, that it’s hardly noticeable once it’s in place…it’s a 12″ or so long piece of plastic with an adaptable elastic strap…not very bulky at all!) The monitor also features a stopwatch and an alarm, so that after you set your minimum & greatest or most complete or best possible desired heart rates, you may be alerted when you are out of range. The alarm is a “beep-beep” that I may listen over the book on tape I drag along with me. Your heart rate is modified each second or two so you will always recognise if you need to pick up the pace a bit.

Although I have not yet had to do so, the chest strap has a removable backing, and you apparently may alter the battery yourself (this is a huge deal, I guess, since galore of the more highpriced monitors require that you send them to the factory for a battery change). The elastic strap is likewise altogether removable, which makes it very easy to wash (and you will need to if you’re exercising!).

The monitor comes packaged in a small, zippered carrying case, and includes an attachment that allows you to place it on a bicycle handlebar.

This does everything I need it to, and I commend it for any individual who is just getting started in an exercise program.

4Good product for active users
By nwall
Good:
- Works as advertised
- Easy to setup
- Rugged and well constructed

Bad:
- Wrist watch does not get started receiving heart rate unless you are sweating at lot/apply a lot of water on the strap and your chest
- In a gym setting, there seems to be interference from electrical instrumentation (treadmills, etc) and the monitor works intermittently
- If there are other users w/ heart-rate monitors in the vicinity, their readings and my readings overlap causing numerous amount of confusion

4Excellent monitor
By A. Forbus
This was my firstborn heart rate monitor & I am very pleased with it. Did not require a lot of instruction. The chest strap is comfortable. Occasionally the monitor does not without delay pick up an exact rate when firstborn put on – but after a few seconds you are ready to go. I will be ordering another for my mother. Excellent product for the price.
