1. Martial Arts Work

It sounds obvious, but don’t neglect your martial arts work. Whilst the training routines for strength and cardio will begin to take up more of your time, you shouldn’t let your martial arts suffer. Also, don’t forget to concentrate on the areas where you are weakest. This could be submissions, takedowns or upright fighting, depending on your martial arts background.

2. Strength Work

Don’t forget your strength training. A training programme designed for martial arts or MMA will aid you to manufacture the strength you need. Working on the core body parts such as arms, legs, shoulders, back, and chest will aid you to become more inviolable and make your kicks, punches and submission holds more effective.

3. Cardio Work

5. Rest Days and Sleep

Never underestimate the power of rest days. Your body will be going through a lot of changes as you bulk up, and become fitter, and will need time to fix damaged muscles, and to rest among gruelling sparring sessions. Don’t be frighted to take a couple of days off a week, and if you are sentiment under the weather, or that you are not in the right frame of mind, take a day off. The prospects are that you will come back raring to go.

Sleep is critical along with rest, so that your body has chance to fix and revitalise itself. Sleep experts reckon that most humans need at least 7 hours sleep a night, and a great deal of will need even more. There’s not one thing faulty with having an early night. If you do a lot of training in the mornings then you will be getting up earlier and need to be going to bed sooner.
