Whether it’s a do-it-yourself home project or one that requires the services of a professional, you’ll get ideas and have a chance to talk with the experts at the 33rd Conejo Valley Home Remodeling & RV Show, Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza (880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village).
Architects, closet organizers, garage door installers, general contractors, landscapers, roofers and interior designers are just some of the more than 150 vendors who will exhibit at the show. In addition, lenders including Carrington Financial will be there who can discuss remodeling financing options. The latest RVs will be on display courtesy of Simi RV.
A new vendor this year is EnerGtech Experts (EnerGTechExperts.com, 818-324-1780). It will be introducing a g-Meter designed to monitor a home or business’ energy usage. “The g-Meter is installed in a home’s electrical panel and monitors usage 24/7,” says Brent Locke, EnerGtech Experts general manager. “It tracks overall kilowatt usage as well as usage on individual circuits so you can determine which appliances are using the most power.” Users can access the data through a secure website.
EnerGtech will be demonstrating the g-Meter at the show. “The system can be set up to notify you when you accidently leave on an electrical device when you’re away from home and can then turn it off from a Smart phone or through the Internet,” says Locke. The company advises clients on how to lower energy rates through changes in use or upgrades and provides the latest information on utility and rebate programs and tax incentives.
Also at the show will be Kevin Tohill & Associates (kta-inc.net, 818-259-1040), an architectural firm based in Simi Valley. “Clients are leaning toward greener designs that are more energy efficient,” says Kevin Tohill, AIA and licensed architect. “They are still concerned with the basics, though–light and ventilation and how they flow from one space to the next.”
Another popular trend is outdoor living spaces. Outdoor kitchens include not only barbeques, but refrigerators, dishwashers and ovens. “Barbeques need to have a hood system for properly ventilation in a semi-enclosed outdoor space,” says Tohill. “Outside TVs are also popular. Exterior-grade televisions that can withstand moisture are available.” Tohill will be displaying his firm’s latest design projects–from room additions to entire mansions–at the show.
Vendor Good Earth Landscape Co. (goodearthventura.com, 805-659-5131) will be giving away its home show patio display totaling over 600 square feet of Belgard deck and wall paver products for the cost of installation. The display will be located at the show’s main entrance. The give-away winner will be announced at the end of the show on September 11.
“The home show is an opportunity to ask questions and get input from the area’s most knowledgeable home-related professionals,” says Rick Goodman, show organizer. “Through the years, the show has proven to been a great resource.”
